I graduated with distinction from the State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages (now Linguistic University) of Nizhny Novgorod in 1981 as a teacher of English and Spanish with an equivalent of a MA in Foreign Languages (5-year course, including a course in military translation). Starting from 1983 and up to 2006 I taught English and Spanish to senior students at the same University occasionally doing translations. In 1997, I took up translation as a second job. Since that time I have been working for a number of translation agencies, contacting them both directly and via e-mail. I translate from English and Spanish into Russian and from Russian into English.
In 2004, I worked as an interpreter for OSCE monitoring mission in Nizhny Novgorod during presidential elections in Russia.
In 2006-2009 I worked as a full-time translator/interpreter for a Russian-based agency DIAL. In this capacity I translated mostly texts of the technical and legal nature, including incorporation documents, agreements, contracts, as well as laws and regulations, terms and conditions of use, customer agreements, etc., both from English into Russian and Russian into English. I also translated quite a few projects related to real estate. Since May 2007 I have been translating and proofreading for a UK-based translation agency Lingo-24. I work in a variety of fields, including marketing, creative & media, business, law, economics, tourism and hospitality, occupational safety and health protection, compliancy, security, politics, education, science and research, engineering, agriculture, private documents, arts, history, fashion, sports, etc.
With Lingo24 I mostly translate advertising, creative and marketing materials and occasionally do technical, business and legal translations.
I do a lot of proofreading as well.
Another UK-based agency I collaborate with is Translations for Industry.
I can translate up to 2500 words a day.
